2018-07-04
The next new player in Gliwice is Piotr Robak. He spent the last two seasons in Legia Warsaw, but first of all he is associated with performances in Astoria Bydgoszcz, which he is a foster child. - The vision presented by the owner and trainer convinced me to play in Gliwice - the player emphasizes.
The transfer of Piotr Robak to GTK is not accidental. Coach Paweł Turkiewicz wanted to cooperate with the player even when he was running Wikana Start Lublin. At that time, the basketball player chose Polpharma Starogard Gdański, because he was in the middle of his studies, and from his native Bydgoszcz to Pomerania was definitely closer than in to the Lublin. As it turns out, our coach did not forget about shooting guard and when there was a second chance to cooperate with him, the Legia Warszawa player received a suggestion to play in Gliwice. - I am very happy that I will play in GTK. The president and the trainer presented me a vision of how the club works and what my role will be. That suits me perfectly and that's why I decided to change the club – Robak admits. He also talked about the club with other players. - I am not concealing that I also conducted a reconnaissance among colleagues, but all opinions were positive. My decision was also consulted with coach Piotr Bakun, who pointed out this place as good for further development - adds.
The shooting guard played for Legia played the second season in a career in the Energa Basket Liga. During an average of 21 minutes spent on the floor he noted: 6.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 0.5 steals, and Legia took the penultimate place in the league table, winning only five meetings during the whole season. - Both team and individual I feel quite unsatisfied this season. However, I hope that the collected material and experience in this period will pay off in the future - suggest player, who played definitely more than during his first season at the highest league for Polpharma. A large part of his career, Robak spent in Bydgoszcz, where he played six seasons in both I and II league. In addition, one year he performed in Świecie. The best period in the career of our new player is undoubtedly the season 2015/16, when in Astoria he scored on average: 16.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game. In addition, in long distance shoots, it was as effective as 45%. This resulted in a move to Legia, which won the promotion to the highest league. During this season, Robak played against GTK five times and at least three of those games were very good in his performance.
Legia after the unsuccessful season decided on a thorough reconstruction of the squad, but ... - I wanted to stay at the top league level at all costs. I believe that I am able to play well at this level and in Gliwice will want to prove at all costs that there is a place for me on this level of play - says Robak. - I know that there have been significant changes and rejuvenation in the team, but I am convinced that it will be a group of people who still have a lot to prove - he adds at the end.
