GTK starts the season! At the beginning will met with KK Šenčur

For this moment, it was waiting a long time in Gliwice. Nine weeks of preparation, 14 friendly games, liters of sweat poured out during training, and all this in order to prepare well for the season 2018/19, which today will officially begin in Gliwice. In the previous season, the team has long played outside the home hall, now GTK fans will be rewarded much faster. First - already in the Small Arena of Gliwice Arena - their beloved team will play in the Alpe Adria Cup with the Slovenian KK Šenčur Gorenjska Gradbena Druzba Kranj. Then, only five days later as part of the Energa Basket Liga, will play as the host again with MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza . This is without a doubt an excellent opportunity to fill the modern arena for the first time in this season.
However, before league game comes, GTK will get the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the arena in the cup competition. The game with KK Šenčur will be the first in the Alpe Adria Cup. In addition to the Slovenians, the Gliwicians will compete in group D with the Czech Sluneta Uście nad Labem and the Austrian BC Hallmann Vienna. The two best teams will advance to the knockout phase. The last edition was won by Slovenian Zlatorog Lasko led by Alesz Pipan, who was national coach of team Poland in the past. The second place went to the Slovakian BK Levicki Patrioti, in which Tanel Kurbas played. The national team member of Estonia, who scored 17 points in the final, will play in GTK in the season 2018/19.
Our next rival KK Šenčur, in the previous edition of the cup finished the competition in the quarterfinal, where he lost twice with BK Levicki Patrioti. Earlier, the team ended the group stage in second place, with a balance of four wins and two defeats. After the season, some of less important basketball players left the club: Grega Sajević, Jan Rebec, Maid Cicić and David Babić. The roster was supplemented by the following players: from the Hungarian league came to the team mighty center Ismet Sejmic, another player which operate near the basket was Gezim Morina and two peripheral players, Marko Popadić and Uros Zadnik. The most important players for the team are: Ramo Rizvić and Dino Murić, the younger brother of the European champion with the national team Slovenia and the former player of Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Góra, Edo. The coach of KK Šenčur is Rade Mijanović, who worked at AZS Koszalin in the season 2009/10. The Slovenian coach started the season very well - three wins in a row, but when in the next six games his team lost, club management lost their patience and fired him. Earlier, in the season 2002/03 he was the assistant of Andrej Urlep in Anwil Włocławek. He runs his current club since 2017.
