GTK Gliwice won the first friendly game in the preparation period for the season 2018/19 with Górnik Trans.eu Wałbrzych 77:64. The most effective in the Paweł Turkiewicz's team were the Americans: Damonte Dodd, who scored 18 points and 13 rebounds as well as Riley LaChance, who added 16 points and 4 assists.
After two weeks of training, GTK Gliwice played its first friendly game. The opponent was from the first league, Górnik Trans.eu Wałbrzych, and the meeting was played at the sports complex at 31 Jasna Street. Paweł Turkiewicz's players won 77:64, but the match was not easy. Although the hosts lead practically throughout the game, the ambitious attitude of the team led by Marcin Radomski meant that emotions were not lacking. The final results was determined by effectiveness in distance shots, where GTK got nine such attempts at 37.5% efficiency, while the opponent hit only once in 16 throws. Guests did not give up in the paint, because although the powerful Damonte Dodd ended several actions with dynamic slam dunks, he already under his basket had considerable problems with the former Energa Basket Liga players: Piotr Niedźwiedź and Tomasz Krzywdziński. Basketball players from Lower Silesia had a bit easier task, because in the Gliwice could not perform Szymon Kiwilsza, who suffered with a sprain ankle.
