One of the best players from I league comes to Gliwice. Słupiński joins GTK

Dawid Słupiński became a new GTK Gliwice player. The 206 cm basketball player represented GKS Tychy was the leading figure on the first league of the past competition. - I want to check on an even higher level. I'm going to fight for every minute on the floor. From the first training I will be working hard to gain the trust of coaches and other colleagues - he emphasizes.

 

Słupiński made his first steps in the senior basketball league in the second league in MON-POL Płock. His talent was quickly noticed by representatives of the clubs from the highest division and he went to Anwil Włocławek. Although he was able to make his debut at the highest level, there were not too many minutes, including by injury. Definitely more often a player who can play like power forward or center position appeared in the team being the direct background of Anwil, TKM Włocławek. After two years in the team from Kujawy, he moved to the nearby Noteć Inowrocław, with which he won promotion to the first league. His good game resulted in a transfer to Znicz Basket Pruszków. It was also a successful season played by Słupiński, which was associated with proposals from other clubs. Finally, measuring 206 cm, player moved to Tychy. Unfortunately, after seven games he suffered a serious knee injury again, which meant that he would not play anymore this season. However, the basketball player stayed in Upper Silesia and it turned out to be an extremely right move. It was definitely his the best season in career, including thanks to him, GKS reached the semifinals and finally finished the season in the 4th place. - I really wanted to rebuild after a long break caused by an injury. The goal was to achieve good physical and basketball shape. I am glad that everything went in the right direction - admits Słupiński who ended the season with averages: 13.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.4 blocks per game.

 

Słupiński's good performances on the first league did not go unnoticed. - I heard that I was being watched, but I tried not to think about it - the 26 year old emphasizes. - I do not hide that I was very surprised that immediately after the end of the season appeared a concrete offer from Gliwice. I carried out a quick verification, I talked with my colleagues, Kacper Radwański and Marek Piechowicz and made the decision that I want to continue my career in GTK - adds the basketball player. - It is very important for me that I will be part of a club that is constantly developing. It has stable foundations, their financial condition is good and it has the right people working in it - admits Słupiński, who wants to spend much more time on the floor than his last season at the highest league . - There is a lot of talk about the difference between the first league and Energa Basket Liga. Generally people says that’s difference is really huge. However, I am of a different opinion and I believe that I can handle it. Often it happened that I had to play against the biggest and best-built opponent, so this competition is not strange to me. For example, on the last competition I need to play against Seid Hajric, who played successfully in the highest league, and more recently in Krakow, I think I am ready for such a fight - announces Słupiński.

 

The basketball player does not hide that he can not wait to start training with the new team. - I am waiting impatiently for this moment. From the first training I want to earn the trust of coaches and team mates. I will fight to get as many minutes as possible on the floor. It's my chance and I want to enter the next level of basketball - admits the new GTK player.
