Two friendly games in Toruń at the end of the next stage of preparations

The third week of preparations for the season 2018/2019 is already behind the GTK Gliwice players. The final stage of this part were two friendly games in Toruń with the local team Polski Cukier, the current bronze medalist of the Polish championships. The balance of this is a defeat and a draw.
After first game with the team from the first league we decided to met with much more stronger opponent. Polski Cukier in the new season will be again one of the favourite to the medals in the Energa Basket League. They will also appear in the Basketball Champions League. In a confrontation with GTK, the team led by Dejan Mihevca already appeared in the full roster, because Cheikh Mbodj arrived before the game against team from Gliwice.
The first match was definitely under the dictation of Toruń. After the first quarter, the players of Polski Cukier began to dominate and still increasing their advantage. This record in the third quarter was already 30 points. In the fourth, our players managed to take a bit of this advantage, but the final win of Polski Cukier was not threatened, as evidenced by the final score of 89:66 in their favor.
The second game was definitely different. There, after twenty minutes of play, the Paweł Turkiewicz’s team began to build an advantage. In the third quarter we achieved the series 9:2 and before the decisive fourth GTK was leading 58:46. Toruń, however, showed their strength. Run 10:0 allowed them to quickly compensate losses, and up to the end game was already very even. In the last minute, Karol Gruszecki scored points, and the battle ended with a draw 65:65.
From Monday, basketball players from our club are returning to work on trainings halls in Gliwice, and another test awaits them on Friday, August 31, when they will face opponents from Opava.
